Home efficiency modeling is now a requirement under the BC building code. All proposed home designs must be reviewed by a Licensed Energy Advisor to determine that the appropriate insulation values, window and heating/ventilation efficiency targets are achieved. As home building in BC moves forward, further more stringent measures will be implemented. This is known as the Step Code. Step 3 is now required for residential buildings through out most of BC.
